Hotel & hospitality internship in Germany: requirements
If you are going to Germany to do an internship, please keep in mind that depending on your nationality and the personal situation there are different regulations and processes. For European citizens, the process is really simple but for non-EU citizens, it can get more complicated. TYPES OF INTERNSHIPS
There are 3 types of internships:
- Basic internship: before your university studies
- Voluntary internship: during your BA or between your BA and MA
- Mandatory internship: during your studies, as a part of it.
Basic and voluntary internships normally tend to be for lower education studies or people who want to learn a basic job, and this type of placement requires to hva de minimum wage salary.

Compensation
Hotels generally offer housing plus meals and sometimes some stipend for this sort of position.
General tasks of this program
Reception area
- Develop customer service policies and procedures
- Handle face-to-face enquiries from customers
- Checking guests in and out
- Basic concierge assistance
- Planning and organizing group arrivals
- Day to day processing and input of group reservations while following hotel reservations policy
- Maintaining a positive selling approach to maximise yield in both occupancy and rates
- Liaising with other departments to prepare for group arrivals
- Assisting the Front office with closing accounts
- Answering all of the calls promptly in a courteous and efficient manner
Food and Beverage
- Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Preparing drinks
- Bar service, is also responsible for the beverage service, both day and night during the hotel working hours.
- Carry out the preparatory tasks, like washing, cutting, cooking, mixing
- Assess the quality of the to use products and ingredients (freshness, storage life etc.);
- Carry out the preparations, control the quality, colour, taste etc. and execute adjustments;
- Cook meals upon request, so having quick hands and a flexible mind is key

Payments
The full fee is payable upon the signing of the Internship Agreement with the host company.
Cancellations
- If the participant cancels after the placement confirmation, he/she is obliged to complete the payment, as InternshipsGermany has already provided its service successfully.
- Substitute participants are not permitted because Internships Germany provides personalized Internship/Training placements.
- Violation of the program's terms and conditions can lead to contract cancellation by Spain Internship without any refund.
